Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email sent to us for as long as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is provided
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages receive traffic and where visits tend to end. Analytics providers combine that usage information for us. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
Collected technical and submitted information is used only for the operating purposes described below.
- Delivering a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Operating the site and improving load performance
- Measuring which pages are useful or need revision
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not own, compile, sell, or maintain a database of personal criminal records. Our material identifies the Phelps County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry as official sources. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices apply to information entered into their tools. We do not set those rules. Review the provider's terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Phelps County offices, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use activity across websites to select ads. That tracking takes place through their services.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search companies that process a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for the information we receive. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
These pages are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where a visitor lives. Missouri's Sunshine Law, RSMo Chapter 610, governs public governmental records, while RSMo §43.509 addresses criminal-history collection and dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information we retain
- Ask that inaccurate retained information be corrected
- Seek deletion of personal information where required
- Opt out of eligible forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
Effective date: July 30, 2026
